Marte Wins Eastern League Batting Title
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Pirates prospect Starling Marte capped off a great 2011 season by winning the 2011 Eastern League batting title.
Entering today's game, Marte led Yangervis Solarte of New Britain by .02 in the race and after going 0-2 to start the game, Marte singled in his final at-bat of the season to raise his average to .332.
Marte became the first player in Altoona Curve history to win a batting title while still with the team.
