BELTZHOOVER (KDKA) – A key suspect in a North Side shooting died early Saturday morning.

According to police, 17-year-old Justin Currington was a suspect in the shooting death of 18-year-old Timothy Harris.

Harris was gunned down in the 1600-block of Sandusky Court around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

On Friday, officers responded to a home on Grape Street for a male suspect considered to be armed and dangerous with a connection to the murder.

Police surrounded the house and began calling for Currington to come out. While waiting for SWAT officers to arrive, a single gunshot was heard inside the house.

When officers entered the home, they found Currington in a second-floor bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died.

Police had not yet obtained an arrest warrant for Currington.
