Pirates Make Front Office Promotions

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the following promotions in the Baseball Operations Department.

Greg Smith has been promoted from Director of Scouting to Assistant General Manager. In his new role, Smith will oversee all elements of the Pirates' Scouting Operations at the Amateur, International and Professional levels.

Kyle Stark has been promoted from Director of Player Development to Assistant General Manager. In his new role, Stark will oversee all elements of the Pirates' Medical, Physical, Mental, Personal and Player Development Departments at the Major and Minor League level.

Tyrone Brooks has been promoted from Director of Baseball Operations to Director of Player Personnel. In his new role, Brooks will lead the Professional Scouting Department and the International Scouting Department (non-Latin American).

Joe DelliCarri has been promoted from Assistant Scouting Director to Director of Amateur Scouting. In his new role, DelliCarri will lead the Amateur Scouting Department and run the First-Year Player Draft.

Larry Broadway has been promoted from an Area Scout to Director of Minor League Operations. In his new role, Larry will lead the day-to-day operations of the Pirates' Player Development Department.

Kevan Graves has been promoted from Assistant Director of Baseball Operations to Director of Baseball Operations. In his new role Graves will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Baseball Operations Department.

Doug Strange will return to his prior role as a Special Assistant to the General Manager but will have an increased role in the Devlopment Department as an evaluator/advisor as well as handling scouting assignments at the amateur and professional level.

"Each of these individuals has played an integral part in our building process to date," said Neal Huntington. "We believe each person is ready for new challenges and that each will have an even greater impact on the Pirates organization in their new roles and responsbilities."
