Man Arrested After Attempting To Run Over Police

INDIANA TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A man from Indiana Township was arrested after he allegedly tried to run over several police officers Sunday.

It happened after authorities took his mother into custody.

According to Indiana Township Police, when Douglas Biehl, 49, arrived at the station, he was aggressive and angry.

He allegedly threatened and attempted to injure officers and put other people in danger.

Biehl's mother, Gene, who suffers from dementia, was taken to the police station after an altercation with her husband at their home.

According to the criminal complaint, Douglas Biehl was aggressive and accelerated heavily toward officers on two occasions while saying, "I'm getting a gun and taking care of you guys."

Police were originally called to the Biehl home on Eisel Road because Gene Biehl forgot who her husband was, attacked him, and called police.

Rosemary Ellana is a close friend and neighbor of the Biehl's. She said Gene's mental health has been on a steady decline and the family had tried to get her proper medical help recently.

Indiana Township Police were getting ready to transport her to Western Psych when Douglas Biehl showed up.

Douglas Biehl eventually turned himself over to police along Route 910 after several other police departments were on the lookout for him.

Douglas Biehl was taken to Western Psych to undergo mental evaluation.

He's facing over a dozen charges including terroristic threats, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
