Ghost Hunters Visit Site Of Old Orphange In South Versailles

SOUTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) — With Halloween approaching, you may be thinking of ghosts and gobblins, but there’s a local group who thinks about them all year.

Members of East Hills Paranormal meet about once a week to try to document paranormal activity.

KDKA went with them as they investigated on a road in South Versailles, near the site of an old orphanage.

There’s a legend that Coulterville Orphanage caught fire and children died. It turns out, according to property owner, the legend is not true. There was no fire, and the building was just torn down.

Nevertheless, this is an area which members of East Hills Paranormal believe is haunted.

They use digital cameras, a temperature sensor and an audio recorder to try to capture evidence of spirits.

One picture a member snapped contains a foggy haze.

A photography expert who examined some of the group’s previous photos told that the images could be explained either as moisture in the air or reflections from a flash.

But Josh Shelton, from East Hills Paranormal, is not discouraged by the assessment. He says that’s only an opinion. In fact, the more he does this, he says the more he believes in ghosts.

The owner of the actual site of Coulterville Orphanage wants other prospective ghost hunters to know it is private property.

More information and photos of the orphanage are for sale in a book available at the Elizabeth Township Historical Society.

Ohhh give me a break…these paranormal ghost hunters are all a bit para-normal. Their photos are always grainy, their “orbs” are reflections of flashes, and they all seem to explain things as ghosts that are actually simply photography techniques.

Stay off of private property and quit scamming people out of money.

A friend of mine is a member of “Park Watch” the citizens group that tries to prevent vandalism on the Gettysburg Battlefield.
A year or so back, he was down near the Devil’s Den, in what they call “the Triangular Field” one of the supposedly haunted spots. He was sitting on a rock, smoking a cigar when two van loads of these “ghost hunters” pulled up, a dozen people jumped out and started running all over the field with their meters and cameras and NVGs.
One of them stopped, sniffed and said “I smell cigar smoke. There must be a ghost here.”
She then walked over to my buddy and asked him if he smelled smoke.
Being himself, he took a big puff on the stogie considered the lit end for a moment and said, “Nope. I don’t smell a thing.”

I live in the area, we have been making trips down to Coulter since my teens. One way in and one way out. It’s like a turn back the local yokal tourist trap. It’s a fun Halloween visit.

As soon I as saw the word “orphanage” I assumed the place they were talking about and I was right.

ARE YOU F*CKIN KIDING ME??!! Have you people even see the news clip for this? Do you not recognize the “gentleman” in the tie? He is a rapist!! Google his name if you know it and you will see the charges he has against him. I am not saying on here though. Also, wasn’t he the one living with his girlfriend and their children in complete filth with a numerous amount of cats and dogs? I believe that incident happened on the North Side in 2009. I don’t know about anyone else in that group but I know for a fact that man should be banned from the group!! He is a disgrace to all paranormal experts and even amateurs. Damn media needs to quit giving bad breeders so much attention
