Wandering 3-Year-Old Reunited With Mother

RANKIN (KDKA) -- A 3-year-old boy found wandering in Rankin has been reunited with his mother.

Cameron Slaughter walked out of his apartment at the Palisades Manor apartment complex. A crossing guard spotted him and took him to the police station nearby shortly after 5 p.m.

The building manager at the Palisades Apartments knocked on the mother's door and told her that her son was found outside alone.

The boy's mother, Darlene Slaughter, went to the police station to pick him up. She told KDKA-TV she fell asleep because she works nights and her son woke up and walked outside.

A Rankin police lieutenant says he does not believe charges will be filed because it was an accident.
