Knoch Students Remember Cheerleader Killed In Crash
SAXONBURG (KDKA) -- Sadness filled the air at Knoch High School Friday night over a cheerleader who was laid to rest.
The crowd gave the Knoch cheerleaders a standing ovation. They lost a popular member of the squad this week.
Alexis Summers died Tuesday when her car went out of control and slammed into a tree. She was well-liked at school.
Friday night's game was for her.
"It's definitely a tragedy, but I think they'll come out there and they're gonna play for her," a student said.
There was a moment of silence at the game and some wore t-shirts with Alexis' picture.
There were tears as well.
"It's really emotional after everything today, but it will be a really awesome thing if we win," another student said.
The Knoch Knights defeated West Allegheny, 28-7, but it's a bittersweet victory.
