The FAN’s Jon Burton Recalls Scene At Paterno’s House

PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) — Even as Penn State football coach Joe Paterno was preparing to announce his retirement, hundreds of the Penn State faithful gathered outside Paterno’s home in State College last night in a show of support for the coach and the six decades he has spent with the school’s football program.

NewsRadio 1020 KDKA’s Mike Pintek talks with Jon Burton, sports anchor and reporter at SportsRadio 93-7 The Fan, about the scene on Paterno’s lawn last night.

Burton, who reported from the rally outside the famed coach’s home, tells Mike why the scene seemed so bizarre in the wake of the sex scandal that has rocked the school, and why he won’t forget the night for the rest of his life.

Joe pateron tarnished his career and life by not going further then he did with this. He let a child rapist get away with it and whatever happens now it is deserved.

I dont care how many people show up to support him. None of them are obviously paents of the victims.

I thought Paterno had honor and integrity but apprentley football is more important then doing the right thing and covering for your buddies in his mind.

Scitt…..alleged child molester…this is still the USA and your innocent until proven guilty, unless the media have already have proven that in their reports… the first place, in the time I was at Penn State, 71-75, I have known Coach Paterno to be a honorable and compassionate man…..he reported the allegations to the proper authorities..i.e., the upper echelon of the Athletic dept…also why didn’t the witness to the alleged incident report it to the police at the time?… should not judge anything until all the facts are in instead of jumping to conclusions and mud slinging against someone that has been a legend at Penn State for over six decades….the old adage comes to mind….he who is without sin, let them cast the first stone…..let the facts come out before blame or accusations are cast upon anyone…….

They need to show support for the victims!!! Joe’s just sorry he got caught up in it by not doing anything..maybe if it was one of Joe’s grandsons..he might have responded differently….say Goodnight Joe….

Everyone is concerned about the victims…..for that is what they are…innocent victims…..and they are showing support for them,,,,,including Coach Paterno…..we should all pray for them in their time of need……one of my concerns in this is why it took so long for the “victims” to come forward and blow the whistle on what was happening?…….why didn’t the “eyewitness” to these alleged allegations speak out at the time or call the police at the time it happened?…..I don’t believe that the “buck stop here” at Coach Paterno, it has to be investigated further to find out what and who did what…..I still believe in JoePa and always will till the day I die…..
