Sources: Dan Onorato To Take Job With Highmark

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — County Executive Dan Onorato is moving on.

The KDKA Investigators have learned Onorato will be taking a job with Highmark.

Onorato has been Allegheny County Executive for eight years. He has been in government service for more than two decades.

Sources tell the KDKA Investigators Highmark has created a new position for Onorato.

Sources say the specific duties of that position have not been laid out yet. A specific title has also not been designated at this time.

In a statement released to KDKA Highmark said, “We don’t normally comment on staffing and personnel decisions.”

Onorato tells KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin “I cannot confirm or deny that report. I have been talking to several employers in the private sector.”

Onorato is expected to start his new job at Highmark in six weeks or so, after his term as Allegheny County Executive expires.

Sources tell the KDKA Investigators Highmark is expected to finalize details with Onorato shortly.

Great 25 years of living off the people and now he gets a real job……..who cares and why is this even on the news?

  • dave k

    Real job?

Highnark is going to invent a title give this guy a boatload of money and probalbly attempt to have him leverege his cache to put a halt on the Nazi like monopoly UPMC is forcing down everybodys throats,

  • Level Green

Of course he is…UPMc and Highmark…where old politicians go to collect the remainder of their payoffs.

Maybe he can get together with ex-State Sen Sean Logan who had a position created for him by UPMC just last year and they can resolve the differences between the two groups since they both did such a bang up job in public service.

And we wonder why health care costs are so high……

Congratulations Dan Onorato on your new position. You have served the citizenry of Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh with distinguished service and integrity. Often we hear the criticism of career politicians and their self serving behavior. This is an instance of a good public servant who cannot be considered as self serving. I applaud your service and wish you well in your new career.

Yo..Outsider….if he did such a bang up job, he would be the governor right now and keep in mind, he lost the vote in Allegheny County so you stand in thin company when you sing his praises…

Until he becomes Highmark’s lobbyist in Harrisburg and Washington

  • Dan rofl

At least Dan’s eyes aren’t bugging out of his head like the day he lost the 10% drink tax in court, and went on the news screaming about raising property tax then changed his mind when he ran for governor, if it weren’t for that he would have, just like fritzy boy did.
