Fancy Tech Gifts Could Cost You Unexpected Big Bucks

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – You buy a new TV, video game system, or a new printer, and when you get home, you find out you need an expensive cord or attachment that didn’t come with it.

Maybe the salesman tells you about an expensive cord for your new TV that he says you need, but maybe you don’t.

It’s called upselling, and it could cost you extra money that you don’t need to spend to run your new technology.

KDKA-AM’s Larry and John talk to tech expert Jennifer Jolly of  Tecca.com about what to watch for when you buy new technology.

One thing to look out for is the salesmen trying to sell you expensive HDMI cables. You can find HDMI cables on sites such as meritline, for around 2.00 for a 6 ft one. They send a digital signal, and there is no difference between the 2.00 ones and the 50.00 ones. Don’t believe me? Do some research!
