Does It Really Do That Holiday Gift Guide

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- We all like to think we know what the people on our holiday shopping list want, but that may not be true.

While most give clothes, surveys show more people would rather receive tech gifts or gadgets.

Over the years, KDKA-TV has tested dozens in its "Does It Really Do That?" series of reports. Some of the products that performed the best may be the perfect fit for someone you know.

Perhaps the best product ever tested for a "Does It Really Do That?" report is one of the earliest. The Roomba spent a week in a KDKA-TV viewer's busy home, and exceeded her expectations. More advanced models have hit the market since then. The Shark Steam Mop has also been tested, with sparkling results.

For the kitchen, you could give the gift of perfectly cooked pasta every time. Two microwave pasta cookers, Pasta N More and Fasta Pasta delivered delicious results.

The cold weather is no reason to forget the gardener on your shopping list. The Garden Groom passed the "Does It Really Do That?" test, and since it was featured on KDKA-TV the price for one has come down. You can easily find one for less than $100. The Awesome Auger was another hit, though the cheap cordless drill that comes with it may disappoint owners.

The Furminator could be a perfect gift idea for the pet owners on your list and their four-legged friends. However, the price tag on the hair removal brush starts at around $40, which may prove to be a bit pricey for some.

You don't have to pay a lot for a great gadget gift. The Egg Genie, EZ Cracker and Ove Glove can make great stocking stuffers for the amateur chef in your life.

Most importantly, they can all answer the question, "Does It Really Do That?" with a resounding "Yes."
