CBS Sports Baseball Writer Talks Pirates, Winter Meetings

PITTSBURGH (SportsRadio 93-7 The Fan) -- Jon Heyman, Senior Baseball Writer for CBS Sports joined the Fan Morning Show on Tuesday to talk all things MLB.

We start by talking about The Miami Marlins and their most recent offer to Cardinals' Slugger, Albert Pujols. Jon thinks that this deal is serious, but Pujols wants to stay in St. Louis because his value is more there. But, the Marlins have the money right now because of their "Sweetheart deal" that they received on their new stadium.

We move on to talk about the Pirates and the rumors of Nate McClouth's return to the Pirates. Jon thinks that the reason the Pirates are interested in him is because he has had success there in the past, and he would come at a very cheap rate because he has had some awful seasons since leaving.

Joel Hanrahan had a fantastic season for the Pirates last year, and Jon thinks that they should keep him on board. The market is not as good as it has been for closers, meaning his value is not as high as it could be.

We also get his thoughts on the new CBA and how it will affect teams like the Pirates who try to rebuild their teams through the draft.
