Mother, Son Found Dead In Red Lobster Parking Lot

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- Two people were found dead inside a vehicle in Greensburg.

The car was discovered in the parking lot of the Red Lobster along Route 30 at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Red Lobster employees saw the bodies slumped over in the front seat and called State Police. They said they were alerted to the car after hearing the gunshots.

The Westmoreland County Coroner identified the victims as 52-year-old Mary Russo and 21-year-old Matthew Russo, both of Brentwood. Officials believe the shooting is a case of murder-suicide.

The coroner's office says both of them suffered gunshot wounds. Investigators have not determined which person was the shooter.

Police said they do tend to see crimes of this nature happen more during the holidays.

"Whatever the case may be when it comes to the holiday season during my 13-year career, the influx when it comes to people having trouble, family members having trouble and committing violent acts, it happens," said Pennsylvania State Police Tpr. Steve Limani.

Police say Mary Russo had a handgun registered under her name.

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti reports police believe Matthew Russo may have been a student at Saint Vincent College.

Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday.
