PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh police are searching for suspects after a man was shot and killed Sunday evening in Pittsburgh’s Fineview neighborhood.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Robert Derek Paillett, 45, of the North Side. Police say he suffered a gunshot wound to the face.

According to investigators, officers were called to Hazelton Street around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a man who appeared to have been shot inside of a van.

Police say they found a red van idling on Glenrose and Hazelton Streets and the driver was unresponsive.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

People who live near the scene were saddened by the incident.

“It is so unfortunate that this sort of thing happens in our neighborhoods. We try to be such a close-knit community and look out for people. I have no doubt that this is probably somebody coming in from the outside,” said Melissa Gallagher, of the Fineview Citizens Council.

Police say no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7161.
