Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Pittsburgh Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The rainy weather in the Pittsburgh area is expected to turn into snow.

As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the counties in the Pittsburgh viewing area.

The advisory begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to last throughout the night.

"I don't think it's really a lot of snow for most of us, but probably enough to coat the ground later this evening and overnight tonight," KDKA Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla said.

Jeff says the snow is likely to begin after 7 p.m. and he expects about an inch to 1.5 inches locally and two to three inches in the Laurel Highlands.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20's so drivers should be on alert for black ice.
