Asham, Jeffrey Candidates To Return Tonight

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — It appears that, amidst all the negative injury news, the Pittsburgh Penguins could get a couple familiar faces back in the lineup tonight against Ottawa at Consol Energy Center.

Forwards Arron Asham and Dustin Jeffrey both appear very close and Asham went as far saying it's "a good chance" we'll see him in the starting lineup.

"Yep. I'm feeling a lot better than I did," Asham said. "(I'm) getting the strength back, so it's probably going to be a good chance that I'll be in (the lineup tonight)."

Asham blocked a shot with his left knee Dec. 31 against New Jersey and has been out ever since. Jeffrey has been out since suffering a knee injury last season and had complications earlier this season with his recovery.

Other injury news:

  • Defenseman Paul Martin missed practice due to illness Monday.
  • Defenseman Kris Letang skated before practice Monday with strength and conditioning coach Mike Kadar. He did not join the full team.
