Suspects Arrange Sales On Craigslist, Rob Buyers

HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- An internet crime spree has logged into in the Pittsburgh area and is leaving victims in its wake.

It's called "robbery by appointment" and that's exactly what it is. Someone responds to an ad on Craigslist and when they show up to buy the item they get robbed.

It has happened three times in Munhall and once in Homestead. In Munhall, the victim fired at the suspects. No one was hurt.

In Homestead, the victim was robbed at gunpoint and had his money and cell phone stolen. All of the robberies were in late January.

Victims describe the suspects as two thin African Americans. One has fair skin. The other has a dark complexion.

Homestead police are working with officers in Munhall to solve this case. There is a good chance the cases are related.

Police are telling the public to be cautious if meeting someone to buy an item from Craigslist and always meet in a public place.
