Cop, 2 Women Injured In Squirrel Hill Crash

SQUIRREL HILL (KDKA) – Two women and a police officer were injured in an accident involving a police car and another vehicle Wednesday morning in Squirrel Hill.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Shady and Forward Avenues.

Officials say the police cruiser was responding to a call and had its lights and siren on while traveling along Shady Avenue.

The two women were in the other car. They were traveling through the intersection when their car collided with the police cruiser.

The impact of the crash sent the two vehicles into a nearby dentist's office and tied up traffic for a time this morning while crews cleared the scene.

Both women were taken to Magee-Womens Hospital for treatment. One of the women is pregnant.

The police officer was transported to Mercy Hospital. The injuries to all three were reported to be minor.

Meanwhile, officials continue to investigate the crash.

Over the weekend, a Monongalia County Sheriff's sergeant from W. Va. died after his patrol car was rammed on Interstate 79 in Greene County during a police pursuit and crash.
