Film Officials Mum On Matt Damon Movie

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Even a gloomy day in Pittsburgh isn't enough to dim Hollywood's reflected glory.

"Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" shot here last year and premieres this summer.

And Tom Cruise wrapped up his producing-directing-starring movie role "One Shot" not long ago.

Dawn Keezer, director of the Pittsburgh Film Office, says that a handful of movie production companies are currently scouting locations here.

If they commit - and that's a big if - then five movies could be on the ground and shooting in Pittsburgh this April.

There is no confirmation, but one of the films may be Matt Damon's "Promised Land," a drama directed by Gus Van Sant who worked with Damon on the award winning "Good Will Hunting."

Also starring is John Krasinski and Frances McDormand who has earned Oscar gold and graduated from Monessen High School and went to Bethany College.

For Damon, it's a return to town. He and Ben Affleck were fallen angels in the controversial film "Dogma" in 1999.

Aside from veteran local casting directors, movie hands and design crews, the new 31st Street Studios in the Strip District offers state-of-the-art facilities for interior shooting.

As far as Matt Damon is concerned, KDKA-TV called Focus Features which is overseeing production of "Promised Land" and its publicist V.J Carbone is mum on the subject for now.

In the meantime, Pittsburgh is always ready for its close up!
