BELLE VERNON (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was killed in an accident on Interstate 70 in Westmoreland County Tuesday night.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 35-year-old Robert Cunningham of Athens, Ga.

According to police, Cunningham was traveling east in the westbound lanes when he collided head on with a FedEx tractor-trailer.

The crash happened near exit 42 in North Belle Vernon around 8:19 p.m.

A third vehicle rear-ended the tractor-trailer after the initial accident.

Three other people, either from the truck or the third vehicle, were injured in the crash.

They were taken to Mon Valley Hospital, but there is no word on their conditions at this time.
