Crosby Skates Despite Practice Being Canceled

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Sidney Crosby practiced Thursday while his teammates had the day off.

The Penguins canceled practice scheduled for Thursday afternoon, but Crosby joined forwards Eric Tangradi and Dustin Jeffrey for a workout, according to the Toronto Sun. Crosby reportedly engaged in some contact during the workout.

Crosby was cleared for contact Tuesday and said the earliest he might return would be Sunday against Boston. With practice canceled, many began to speculate whether Crosby would be on pace to potentially play Sunday or if that would be out of the question with no practice.

Crosby said Tuesday that he needs several days of contact in practice to gauge whether or not he's ready to return to the lineup.

Crosby has played in just eight regular season games over the last 14 months because of concussions, concussion-like symptoms and a soft-tissue neck injury.
