Small Plane Goes Down In Beaver County Yard
CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Emergency officials say a small plane has gone down in Beaver County.
The plane made a crash landing in a yard in the 100-block of McClain Road in Chippewa Township near the county airport at about 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Shakura Rowe, 19, a student studying air traffic control, and her flight instructor, Dan Soloski, were inside the plane.
No one was hurt, but they both went to the hospital as a precaution.
The pilot told investigators his plane stalled and he was forced to crash land.
Raymond Blazak watched the plane crash.
"It slid about maybe 12-15 feet," he said. "I mean, this was the extreme aircraft carrier landing. It just slammed the nose – tail fell off the plane."
Blazak said the pilot knew what he was doing.
"That was a controlled crash," he continued. "The pilot did everything he could to keep from hitting structures or anything."
The FAA is investigating.
