Mega Millions Mania Sweeping Across Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- People have 540 million reasons to stop by their local convenience store today, if they haven't already.

The record Mega Millions jackpot has set off a ticket-buying frenzy, including right here in Pittsburgh.

The jackpot has now grown to the largest in world history. It's up to an estimated $540 million.

If a lone winner took the lump-sum payout, it would be an estimated $389 million.

However, the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately one in 176 million.

There hasn't been a winner since Jan. 24.

Meanwhile, here in Pennsylvania, there are a reported 9,000 retail stores selling Mega Millions tickets, which can be purchased up until 9:59 p.m.

The drawing is set for 11 p.m.
