Police Investigate Reported Sighting Of Armored Truck Heist Suspect

DRAVOSBURG (KDKA) -- There was a search that lasted 15 or 20 minutes Wednesday night after what seemed like a lead in the hunt for Ken Konias, Jr.

He's the man police say killed his armored truck partner and made off with $2.3 million.

A call came in from someone in Konias' hometown of Dravosburg.

A silvery-tan Ford Explorer turned around in someone's driveway, and it appeared that the license plate was covered up.

McKeesport Police as well as West Mifflin Police were on the lookout for the vehicle, but it was Allegheny County Police that eventually located the SUV.

Konias was not inside, and the plate wasn't actually covered.

It turns out, there have been dozens of reported sightings in our area since the armored truck was found in the Strip District with the body of Konias' partner, Michael Haines, inside.

There are electronic billboards up and down the East Coast. The case was also featured on the TV program "America's Most Wanted."

There have been reported sightings in Maryland, Georgia and out West, just to name a few locations, and police work every lead they get.

Investigators want people to call if they think they've seen Konias or have information on where he might be.

The Garda company is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Konias.
