Man Dead, Wife Injured In Route 19 Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man is dead following an accident along Route 19 in Washington County Saturday afternoon.

The Washington County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 61-year-old Donald Burns of Muse, Pa.

The crash happened just after 4:15 p.m. in South Strabane Township.

Officials say Burns was heading northbound along Route 19 in his Chrysler van.

According to the Coroner's Office, witnesses reported that it appeared as though Burns may have had some sort of medical event.

Authorities say Burns' wife tried to control the van, but it ended up hitting another vehicle heading northbound. Both the victim and his wife were ejected.

She was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. There is no word on her condition.

Burns was pronounced dead at the scene just before 5 p.m.

The South Strabane Township Police Department is investigating the crash.
