Fired City Employee Charged With Theft

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A city employee who was fired has now been arrested.

Matt Hogue, 31, used city funds to buy $10,000 in chainsaws and weed whackers and then reported them stolen.

Hogue is charged with felony theft and making false statements to police.

He worked for City Councilman Bruce Kraus who fired him on Thursday.

KDKA Investigator Andy Sheehan exposed the improper purchases which were never approved by Councilman Kraus.
