PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan was placed on the bereavement list Thursday because of the death of his grandmother.

Hanrahan is expected to travel back home to Iowa for three days to be with his family. He should rejoin the roster Sunday.

In his place, the Pirates recalled Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A Indianapolis. He is 2-2 with a 2.49 ERA in the minors this season.
