PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Buccos jumped out to an early 2-0 lead Thursday night against Washington and Steven Strasburg, but in the end it was the Nationals that came out on top, 4-2.

Strasburg struck out 13 Pirates batters, just one short of his major league debut against Pittsburgh last season when he sat down 14.

Predictably, much of the post-game chatter was in response to Strasburg and his performance.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, first baseman Garrett Jones, starting pitcher Kevin Correia and right fielder Jose Tabata all spoke after the game.
