W. Va. Woman Stranded In Wreckage Returns Home

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (KDKA) -- Veronica McFoy, 41, of Morgantown, W. Va., is home with her family after she was seriously injured in an accident and stranded in the wreckage for days.

Eight days ago, the van she was driving went off a rural road about half a mile from her home.

The mother of two remained trapped inside the vehicle until last Thursday, when she managed to break a window, crawl out and climb a steep hillside where she flagged down a passerby.

Her badly damaged vehicle could not be seen from the road.

McFoy said on Tuesday she remembered going down the embankment, rolling over and over, and bouncing off everything in sight.

"There were a couple points laying down there - Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, you know, 'Am I ever going to get out of here, or, is [this] going to be where I die at?'"

For anyone feeling desperate, and might find themselves in a similar situation, McFoy has some advice.

"Don't give up," she said.
