MONROEVILLE (KDKA) – There’s a break in the case of the brutal beating of a Monroeville Mall employee as she tried to stop a shoplifter.

Police have now identified the attacker and have a warrant for her arrest.

Turns out, she’s a 13-year-old girl.

Police say once people saw the video of the assault and a photograph of the suspect, they started calling authorities.

Police say sometime early Wednesday, they identified the suspect as a 13-year-old Pittsburgh girl.

The 13-year-old in the video is not in custody right now.

She could face charges of aggravated assault and robbery, but because of her age, she will be charged and tried as a juvenile.
