Child Falls From 2-Story Window In Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A child has been hospitalized after falling from two-story window at a residence in Butler County this morning.

According to emergency dispatchers, it happened between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. along Eden Way Court in Cranberry Township.

"He was alone in his room," Cranberry Township Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said. "The parents went in this morning to wake him and found that he had fallen out the window."

Neighbors say the news is tragic.

"Just to hear of this little boy – it breaks everybody's hearts around here," David Miller said.

Authorities say the 9-year-old was rushed to UPMC Cranberry and then airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital where he is recovering.

Neighbors say the family is protective of their two sons, especially the 9-year-old who has special needs.

"The parents are great parents," Miller said. "They're always out saying hello and walking the neighborhood with their kids and their older brother is out there with his little brother playing with him too."

Police are looking into the incident.

"At this time, nothing appears suspicious or criminal, but we will investigate the incident," Mascellino said.
