Abandoned Horses Rescued From Canonsburg Farm
CANONSBURG (KDKA) -- More than 40 quarter horses were rescued from a farm in Canonsburg.
The animals were abandoned.
"This is a woman who found herself in over her head and is no longer able to care for her horses," Jen Urska with the Arabian Rescue Mission said.
The horses are suffering from worms. Some of them have eye problems and others have ear and hoof problems.
Dr. Brian Burks, a veterinarian, is volunteering to help the animals.
"I don't understand how somebody could do this," he said. "To me, it's just unfathomable. It's an untenable situation for these horses and it's kind of untenable for us too but we've got to deal with it."
Dr. Burks says not all of the horses will survive. Some of them need surgery and others are expecting a foal.
For $50, you can adopt one of the horses, but there's a stringent background check.
