Teenager Dies In New Castle Shooting

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – Police have two people in custody after a teenager was shot and killed in Lawrence County on Saturday.

According to police, the shooting happened around 4 a.m. in the Gaston Park area on the east side of New Castle.

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Marcus McCauley. His body was found around 7 a.m.

"He was just a nice, respectful kid," said Sarah Marski, a neighbor of the victim. "I have a 9-year-old of my own that I don't want anything like this to happen to him. He's only seven years younger than him."

McCauley is originally from Arizona, but has lived in New Castle for about eight years.

KDKA-TV's Harold Hayes reports that two people were taken into custody Monday in connection with the shooting.

Christopher and James Nixon were arraigned Monday evening before District Judge Scott McGrath in Neshannock Township.

In addition to charges connected to the shooting, both suspects have also been charged with robbery and theft.
