MONROEVILLE (KDKA) — Monroeville police say a mother from Falls Church, Va., is being cited after she left her two small children alone inside a parked car.

Emily Escobar, 30, told police she was only in Giant Eagle for 10 minutes.

A customer going into the store became concerned when he saw the kids alone in the car which was turned off and the windows were slightly ajar.

The kids weren’t hurt.

Escobar was already outside and near the car when police showed up at the scene. However, state law says a driver can be cited if he or she leaves a child under age six in a vehicle out of sight.
