Rockies Manager Jim Tracy: 'Thursday Morning, I Will Be One Huge Pirates Fan'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Rockies Manager Jim Tracy joined The Fan Morning Show Wednesday to talk about his squad's current series against the Pirates, and to offer his thoughts on the Pirates' season.

He cited a wide array of contributions on the mound and player development for the Pirates' success this year.

"The biggest difference that I see in the Pittsburgh Pirates this year versus last year and a number of previous years is number one, they're pitching a lot better, and they have gotten step up performances... it's a combination of that and it's the evolving of some of [the Pirates'] young players just like we're doing here now," Tracy said.

He said the pitching should be the key for the team as the season moves along, and that he's excited to see where it leads them.

"Their pitching will determine where it goes, believe me.... When we get to Thursday morning, I will be one huge Pirates fan," Tracy said.

He also offered his thoughts on Justin Upton, the outfielder for Colorado's division rival Arizona that is rumored to be a Pirates trade target.

"You saw him at his best last year, as a special season unfolded for the Diamondbacks... As far as why he would be out there on the market, I have no idea," Tracy said.
