PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It took a little while, but the area finally saw some rain at the end of last week. Now, more may be on the way.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon as a disturbance rolls in from the northwest. The warm, steamy atmosphere will kick off storms with lightning, potentially some hail and damaging winds.

In scattered locations, rain could be heavy enough to create ponding of water on roads.

The high temperature will reach into the mid 80s and only fall back to about 72 degrees overnight.

Storms will continue to be scattered about through Tuesday morning, ending during the early afternoon hours.

As you go about your outdoor plans, keep an eye on the sky and have a plan for getting to a safe place should storms arrive.
