Players Start Arriving For Steelers Training Camp

LATROBE (KDKA) – While the start of the regular season is still a few weeks away, football season officially began Wednesday morning with the opening of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.

According to KDKA-TV's Mike Zappone, it was a quiet morning at Saint Vincent College as Cameron Hayward was the most recognizable veteran to arrive.

Most of the other players who showed up early were rookies and younger veterans.

However, there has been no sign of wide receiver Mike Wallace to this point. Wallace also missed the mandatory mini-camp and OTAs earlier this year.

Wallace is currently holding out for a long-term contract.

So far, the Steelers have tendered a one-year deal worth $2.7 million. Wallace cannot participate in any activities until a new deal is worked out or until he signs the one-year tender.

Should he sign the tender, it would be likely that the two sides would continue to work toward an extension throughout the season.
