New Brighton Man Charged With Stalking

NORTH BEAVER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police believe that 45-year-old Robert Allen Young of New Brighton is very "confused."

"Obviously, he thinks that he's married to our victim since just after grade school," State Police Cpl. William Maitland said.

Since 2010, Young has been harassing Kathleen McCutcheon who lives in North Beaver Township with her husband, Timothy. Both are in their 40's.

Police say that Young and the McCutcheons were only casual acquaintances.

"There was never any history that I'm aware of between the parties other than being neighbors and friends," Maitland said.

The criminal complaint describes how last Thursday when the McCutcheons were out of town that Young left a load of cards and gifts on their front porch.

"A lot of gifts – a large bouquet of flowers for the victim and a lot of toys and stuff for the kids," Maitland said.

Wendy McCutcheon, Kathleen's sister-in-law, was also called by Young with a message.

"To pass along to her sister-in-law Kathleen that Robert Young loves her," Maitland said.

After nearly two years of stalking, the gifts were just too much and Robert Young was arrested.

Young remains in the Lawrence County Jail on $25,000 bond and faces charges of felony and misdemeanor stalking as well as harassment and criminal trespass.
