Steelers Fans Arrive For Training Camp In Latrobe
LATROBE (KDKA) -- Steelers fans lined up for the first open practice of training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
The humidity and threat of storms didn't keep them away.
Many fans spent hours in line, hoping to be the first to make it into camp.
"I just one to get to my spot and get a good spot," one boy told KDKA-TV.
Among those in line were a father and daughter from south Florida. There were also people from Iowa and a man with a name familiar to many Steelers fans – another Dan Rooney.
"I get a lot of phone calls from people wanting tickets," Daniel Joseph Rooney said. "They want tryouts for the Steelers for their kids."
Another man had a heart transplant. He's not letting the heat get in the way of his Steeler experience.
"I'm stubborn," he told KDKA-TV. "If I get my mind made up, I'll do something. I shouldn't do that, but I do."
Many fans came dressed for the occasion. One fan's t-shirt read: "On The 7th Day, Let There Be Ben."
"Black and gold baby – that's all there is!"
