Bloomfield Man Robbed At Gunpoint Inside Apartment

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – After a Bloomfield man went out to do some shopping, he came back to his South Aiken Avenue apartment and found himself staring down the barrel of a gun.

Harris Thompson said he came back to his apartment around noon and found the air conditioner in his first floor window on the floor of his apartment.

As he was trying to pick up the unit to install it back in the window, a masked man, who was hiding in his bathroom, confronted him and ordered him at gunpoint to lie down on the floor.

Thompson said he handed the robber some cash as he stayed down on a rug. He wasn't hurt in the incident, but he was shaken up.

"Having a gun stuck in your face, if anybody's been through that situation [you] know how it feels, especially a veteran," he said.

Police described the robber as a black male in his 20's with a heavy build. Robbery detectives are investigating.
