CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Three people were killed in a Venango County car accident Saturday night.

According to state police, the accident happened on State Route 157 in Cranberry Township around 6:15 p.m.

A 2001 Mercury Sable being driven by Taylor Knight, 25, of Oil City, was traveling west on Route 157 when both passenger side wheels left the road. Knight overcorrected, lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

A 2010 GMC Yukon traveling east was unable to avoid Knight and struck the vehicle in the 3 o'clock position.

The driver of the Yukon, Joseph King, 52, of Oil City, was pronounced dead at the scene along with Knight.

A passenger in the Yukon, 51-year-old Laura King, was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

According to state police, speed was a factor in the crash and all three people were not wearing seatbelts.
