Motive Unknown In Fatal McKeesport Shooting

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – A Braddock man has been arrested following a deadly shooting at a nightclub in McKeesport Sunday morning.

Vondre Griffin, 23, of Braddock, was questioned and later charged in connection with the shooting outside the McKeesport Sportsman's Club.

"The club was closing and all the patrons were leaving and officers were in the parking lot encouraging everybody to leave, get in their cars and there was some type of altercation close by and shots rang out," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.

According to police, that is when Tameko Wall, 37, of Braddock's, life came to an end and 23-year-old Vondre Griffin's future turned for the worse.

"The motive is not real clear at the moment," Lt. Schurman said.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Sunday when the two men were leaving the club.

It wasn't that long ago that Griffin was playing football at Thaddeus Stevens College.

Witnesses identified him to police and he was promptly taken into custody.

"Those people should be applauded for what they did stepping up and helping the police identify the people involved," Lt. Schurman said.

Meanwhile, Wall had his problems in the past. He got out of jail, got a good job and became a father.

Relatives said Wall was a new man when his baby boy, Jory, was born three years ago.

Wall's aunt told KDKA-TV's Ross Guidotti that the child will be the one to suffer the most in the end. The child is continually asking when his father is coming home.
