Steelers' Veterans Set For 1st Preseason Game

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN/KDKA) -- The Steelers take the field tonight in Philadelphia for their first game of the preseason.

The cross-state rivalry between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia will heat up once again as the Steelers kick off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Steelers made the journey across Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

At least two rookies will start for the Steelers against the Eagles - offensive linemen David DeCastro and Mike Adams.

"Have the opportunity to finally see some of the things that we've been doing in OTAs and training camp," said linebacker LaMarr Woodley of the first game of the preseason. "And the starters are not out there all that long, so the younger guys have the opportunity to definitely show what they can do with the game speed."

Linebacker Lawrence Timmons says the game will be the Steelers first real test ahead of the start of the regular season.

"Start a foundation; it's a start. See where we're at," said Timmons. "We've just been going against each other. Now, we get to see how we do against other teams. That's our first test and we're excited about it."

The Fan Morning Show's Gregg Giannotti and Paul Alexander caught up with Woodley and Timmons as well as Casey Hampton and Jerricho Cotchery before the Steelers left for Philadelphia.
