Synthetic Marijuana Operation Discovered In North Versailles

NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) – A North Versailles man is in jail after he was allegedly running a synthetic marijuana operation inside his home.

According to officials at the scene, HAZMAT crews were called to a home in the 900-block of Diane Drive around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews removed barrels of chemicals from the house owned by 30-year-old Zachary Holtzman.

"There's always kids outside playing," Eric Jenkins said. "It seems to me it's a nice neighborhood."

Neighbors say the suspect had two children.

"Two little blonde girls playing in the front yard and lot of times they played with the girl next door," Coinne Trifanoff, a neighbor said.

Holtzman's wife and two children moved out a few days ago, according to neighbors.

The suspect was on probation from a robbery in Massachusetts in 2004 where a man was shot.

His parole officer tipped off police that something suspicious was going on inside the house.

Holtzman is facing felony charges.
