Man Arrested After Mt. Washington Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man has been arrested in connection with a Mount Washington shooting that left another man injured late Tuesday night.

According to police, two men were fighting on Eureka Street around 10 p.m. when one pulled out a gun and shot the other in the chest.

Authorities say Kenneth Lambert was arrested Tuesday night just blocks from where the shooting took place.

Police say Lambert dropped off the five children that he shares with his ex-girlfriend at her home. But as soon as the children were inside, police said he confronted the mother of his children and her new boyfriend.

"As officers were responding, a vehicle was stopped that had the suspect inside of the car," Pittsburgh Police Commander Thomas Stangrecki said.

While the exact details of the altercation are unknown, police say when Lambert showed up at the house on Harwood Street, he began fighting with the new boyfriend.

"He was in the living room and he heard something," said a woman whose husband heard the shooting. "So, he looked out the window and he seen the neighbors fighting. He said he seen a gun being drawn and he called 911 before the shots went off."

According to court papers, the girlfriend claims to have received text messages throughout the day from Lambert; the messages allegedly increasingly more irritated and angry.

The victim was last listed in stable condition.

In addition to charges of simple assault and aggravated assault, police say Lambert is also facing charges of carrying a firearm without a license.
