String Of Lawrence Co. Fires Under Investigation

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of an alleged fire bug in Lawrence County.

According to officials, five fires have been set since July, including one Sunday night in the 200-block of North Crawford Avenue in New Castle around 11 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but electricity was still running to the home.

The home is in the same area where other vacant house fires have been set.

According to neighbors, the woman who used to live in the house was a hoarder, which made it difficult for firefighters to put it out.

"When I pulled out in front of the house, I noticed that the basement window of the house next door to me was on fire. So, I hurried up and ran inside and woke everybody up," Eric Ritter said.

There are no reported injuries in this fire.
