Highmark Files Restraining Order Against WPAHS
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There are new developments in the breakup of a merger between the West Penn Allegheny Health System and Highmark.
Late Monday, Highmark filed for a temporary restraining order to prevent WPAHS from starting affiliation discussions with any other groups.
In the filings, Highmark denies West Penn Allegheny's allegation that Highmark violated its affiliation agreement by asking West Penn Allegheny to declare bankruptcy.
Highmark officials say that they still want to move forward with the proposed affiliation.
