Pirates Second Baseman Neil Walker Discusses Future

PITTSBURGH (KDKA NewsRadio 1020) --- Neil Walker talked with Joe Starkey of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93.7 The FAN to talk about everything from the season he had, to the Pirates unique minor league training methods.

Walker updated us on his rehabilitation from a back injury that cut his season short, saying that he's taking things step by step and recovering nicely.

We also talked with Walker about the second half collapse again this year, and what he makes of it.  Walker called the season "interesting," and something they should learn from and use to ensure it doesn't happen again.

With all of the stories coming out about the Pirates minor league training methods including Navy SEALS training, we asked Walker for his thoughts and some of the veteran players thoughts on the unique methods.

Walker also updated us on his contract situation and said he's open to talking with the team again this offseason about signing a long-term deal.
