PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — A valiant effort by a depleted offensive line was a big part of the Steelers’ win in Cincinnati, and rookie Mike Adams is happy after finally having seen that effort on film.

“I think I graded out pretty well. Definitely room for improvement,” he said to 93.7 The Fan’s Eric Hagman on the South Side Thursday. “It’s different when you’re not coming off the bench.”

Adams substituted for an injured Marcus Gilbert in Week 7 and helped pave the way for backup running back Jonathan Dwyer, who finished with a game- and season-high 122 yards on 17 carries, while rookie Chris Rainey provided the winning points on an 11-yard run made possible by a big hole up the middle.

“It’s something you take pride in. The rushing game is something you hang your hat on. I think it’s a good testament to the will of this offensive line,” Adams said.

He doesn’t expect that yardage to come as easily when the Redskins come to Heinz Field. Washington, like Pittsburgh, ranks among the top ten in the NFL, averaging less than 90 rush yards allowed per game.

The Steelers have just three TD’s on the ground so far, while the ‘Skins have allowed five.

“They’re very stout against the run, which is a great challenge for us. You see a lot of guys who are out there fighting.”

Kickoff is set for 1:00 Sunday. Join 93.7 The Fan for pregame coverage beginning at 10:00 A.M., as “Late Shift” host Chris Mueller is live from the Gateway Clipper Fleet.
