Woman Found Dead Near Beaver Co. Train Tracks

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) – A woman was found dead near train tracks in Beaver County Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the body of a 45-year-old woman was found between two sets of railroad tracks, just north of the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge.

Police Officer Zadock Dismuke told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that the woman suffered "significant head trauma," but, it's not clear if she hit her head on the tracks and was knocked unconscious, or, if she was struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train.

DIsmuke said police have ruled out foul play in the woman's death.

Beaver County Coroner Terri Taatalovich-Rossi had to ride an ATV to the sight of the accident because of its remote location, between Route 65 and the Ohio River.

The mishap took place in a limited access area.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday.
